Watsonville, Santa Cruz County
Watsonville sits in the Pajaro Valley, some of the richest farmland on the Central Coast. Apples came first: the Martinelli company has pressed cider here since 1868. Strawberries and raspberries now cover most of the valley floor, and several of the largest berry companies in the country are based in town. The fields run nearly to the edge of Monterey Bay.
